Zimbabwe Finally Allows Bars , Pubs To Open For Vaccinated Patrons

The government of Zimbabwe has announced that licenced bars and pubs will now finally be allowed to open and operate freely. However, the government stipulated that the bars will only be open to vaccinated patrons. Bar owners will also be required to ensure that all World Health Organisation Covid-19 protocols and guidelines are observed.

The government’s decision to allow bars and pubs to reopen was announced by Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa during a post-cabinet briefing on Tuesday.

Minister Mutsvangwa also announced that Zimbabwe will remain under level 2 lockdown for another two weeks. This means that curfew and business operating times will remain unchanged.

The government’s decision to finally allow licensed bars and pubs to open and operate will be welcomed by many who have been begging the government for such a move.

The issue of the reopening of bars and pubs had been causing anguish for many imbibers and merrymakers who had been complaining about alleged discrimination. Some questioned the logical and scientific basis reopening most sectors of the economy while restricting bars and pubs.

Some even mocked the authorities’ stance over bars and pubs, saying that the situation is different on the ground. They claimed that a lot of bars were already operating and had been operating despite the lockdown regulations.
