Jacob Zuma Spends First Night In Prison

After days of drama and suspense before handing himself in, South Africa’s Jacob Zuma began a 15-month sentence for contempt on Thursday, after spending his first night in jail. The former prisoner of the apartheid regime had kept the country on tenterhooks by trying all legal avenues to evade jail, but Zuma became an inmate once again shortly after midnight. It is the first time a former president has been jailed in post-apartheid South Africa. Two Zimbabwean Brothers Jailed In UK Kutema Munhu Ne Bhemba

Two Zimbabwean brothers have been convicted of attempted murder in the United Kingdom following a “savage” daylight assault with a machete. Benedict Zvekare (26), who left his victim with severe injuries, was found guilty of attempted murder and is beginning his 20-year jail term. His brother Blessing (31), also of St John’s Road in Edlington, was convicted by the same Sheffield Crown Court jury and given three years for assisting an offender. Bulawayo Police Officer Obata Vakadzi Chibharo Muchitokisi

A Bulawayo based Zimbabwe Republic Police officer was arrested after he allegedly raped a woman at a police station. iHarare has learned that 31-year-old Phinias Shava who is stationed at Hillside Police Station appeared in court facing two counts of rape. Online publication CITE Zimbabwe reports that Shava pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Rachel Mukanga. The magistrate released the police officer on ZWL$10,000 bail and remanded him out of custody to April 15, 2021. The magistrate also warned Shava not to interfere with state witnesses and to report at Mzilikazi Police Station every Friday. Outlining the state’s case against the police officer, the prosecutor revealed that the crime occured when Shava was assigned to the How Mine police base.

Mashura VarumeVatatu Dig Three Graves After Pretending To Be Police Officers Investigating A Case

In a suspected case of witchcraft, three men, one of them wearing a police anti-riot uniform, recently visited a cemetery and dug three old graves. The incident happened at Katambe village in Dinde under Chief Nekatambe area just outside Hwange town a fortnight ago. New Zimbabwe reports that the motive by the three who are yet to be identified or arrested is not yet known. Police investigators found that a grave of a woman who died in 2012 had a one-meter-deep hole while two others had been dug as well on the side of the head suggesting the suspects may have been stealing coffins or anything related to the deceased. Satanism Scare Brings Fear To Chipinge School

A Secondary school in Chipinge was forced to shut down after incidences of Satanism continued to rock the school. Chimana secondary school under Chief Mapungwana was closed on Monday after students and teachers collapsed and experienced blackouts after seeing snakes in the classrooms. Tracy Samantha Carr & Her Son Murder Brother & Bury His Body At Her Borrowdale Home Garden

A woman teamed up with her son and killed her child whom she accused of being violent, abusive and a drug addict, then buried the body in a shallow grave in Borrowdale. Mutorashanga Woman Buries New-Born Baby Alive

In a rather heartbreaking development, a 33-year-old woman from Mutorashanga was arrested and charged with infanticide after she buried her new-born baby alive. According to New Zimbabwe, Margaret Musarapasi of Plot 12 Chihamba, Mutorashanga is reported to have given birth to a bouncing baby boy before she allegedly dug a shallow pit in which she buried him alive. Musarapasi appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Tendai Banda facing one count of infanticide. It is in the States case that on the 5th February this year at around 11 pm, a heavily pregnant Musarapasi, who was alone at her homestead, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
