The CCC star rally in Mbizo, Kwekwe was marred with violence.

iHarare reported that one person died while 17 others were seriously injured after a machete-wielding gang attacked the CCC supporters who had attended a rally in Kwekwe on Sunday afternoon.

The thugs reportedly used machetes, spears, empty beer bottles and bricks to attack them.

The attack occurred when CCC president Nelson Chamisa was delivering his speech.

Nelson Chamisa was quickly whisked away by his security personnel when the melee started.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has since revealed the name of the man who died after being attacked at the rally. Mahere identified the man as Mboneni Ncube (30). She revealed that he was attacked by a spear.

A dark cloud hangs over us as we mount the sad loss of Mboneni Ncube (30, male) who was attacked with a spear and murdered in broad daylight in Kwekwe yesterday by Zanu PF thugs. His only crime was to believe in a brighter Zimbabwe where all are free.

May his soul Rest In Peace.
