Hip hop musician Ti Gonzi, born Tinashe Gonzara, has been sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment following his conviction for unlawful possession of illicit drugs and driving without a driver’s licence.He will, however, serve eight months, effective after two months of his sentence was suspended for good behaviour.
The rapper was also fined US$100 for driving without a licence and for three additional traffic‑related offences. The court heard that on 2 February 2026, Ti Gonzi drove his Mercedes‑Benz vehicle through Mupedzanhamo robots, proceeding against a red traffic light. Constable Katukavarimi stopped him, informed him of the arrest and entered the vehicle, instructing him to drive to ZRP Mbare Traffic for processing.
Gonzara refused, heading toward Coca‑Cola Granite side along Cripps Road.
At Cripps robots, Constable Gutusa reinforced the stop and officers escorted him back to ZRP Mbare Traffic.
A search of the car uncovered dagga and Broncleer syrup, leading to his immediate detention.The magistrate delivered the judgment, noting the seriousness of drug possession and traffic violations, and ordered the forfeiture of the seized substances.
